NASHVILLE, the country homeland!

Talking about tendencies...we are going to present you this week, one of the most interest cities of the U.S. Sometimes you may choose between Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift o Hayden Panettiere  as the best dressed of the week, they show us their best dresses holding an award to their best album and all of them have started their careers in Nashville, Tennessee financial capital, "country" music homeland and venue of one of the most important universities of the country. If you are not going to have the opportunity to visit the city, dont miss the post, on the contrary, maybe you'll finde some interesting places to visit!!

Y hablando de últimas tendencias...esta semana os vamos a contar cosillas de una ciudad del interior de US. Si muchas veces elegimos entre las mejor vestidas de la semana a Carrie Underwwod, Taylor Swift o Hayden Panettiere, éstas nos presentan sus mejores galas recibiendo premios a su mejor álbum o carrera discográfica y todas ellas han empezado en Nashville, capital financiera de Tennessee, cuna del Country y sede de una de las mejores universidades del país. Well, plenty has changed in the place they call “Music City.” For one thing, it’s not just all about country music. While traditional country is still, and will always be, in the forefront, there’s plenty of room for other genres, too — everything from jazz to classical to blues has a home in Nashville.

Parece ser que, la ciudad de la "musica country" ha cambiado mucho en los últimos años, y es que ya no solo es la cuna de la música country, sino que admite otros géneros como el jazz, el blues o la música clásica, todo tiene cabida en Nashville.

In recent years, Nashville’s increasing popularity has gone beyond tourist attractions like the famed Ryman Auditorium, Country Music Hall of Fame and the Parthenon (an exact replica of the Parthenon in Greece, complete with a stunning, golden 41-foot Athena — the largest indoor statue in the Western world — sculpted by Nashville native Alan LeQuire. 

The reopening of the 2,362-seat Ryman Auditorium — which hosted the Grand Olde Opry for more than 30 years — has given the downtown of Nashville a welcome boost. Built in 1892 as a church tabernacle, The Ryman became home to what would become an international phenomenon — a radio show dubbed the Grand Ole Opry in 1943. For three decades The Ryman was the showplace for the Opry’s live radio show, which included such legends as Patsy Cline, the Carter Family, Minnie Pearl and Hank Williams.

En los últimos años, Nashville acoge muchas otras atracciones además de la música, como el Auditorio Ryman, El Country Music Hall de la Fama o el Parthenon, sí, he dicho bien, una réplica exacta de la construcción ateniense, la mas grande edificada en el lejano oeste. La reapertura del auditorio Ryman, construido en 1892 y que albergaba el mayor show de radio nunca visto, ha vuelto a recordar a leyendas de la música como Patsy Cline, the Carter Family, Elvis o Jonhy Cash.

The Tennessee State Museum hosts an exhibit of Elvis Presley photos (“Elvis at 21”), as well as an impressive exhibit about Tennessee’s role in the Civil War. The museum is gearing up for National Archives multimedia exhibit, “Discovering the Civil War,” which will open there on Feb. 12 — Lincoln’s birthday — and continue through Sept. 2. While the much anticipated Johnny Cash Museum won’t open until sometime in 2013, we were able to peruse its already-operational gift shop on Third Avenue South.

Vanderbilt University is one of the famous college of the country, you can enjoy walking through the campus, admiring the old buildings and the centenarian trees or drinking at the back street with many of the students.

Otro museo recomendado es el Tennessee State que alberga una exposición de fotos de Elvis Presley, y otra que expone el papel que libro el estado durante la Guerra Civil, desde el 12 de Febrero (cumpleanos de Lincoln) hasta el 2 de Septiembre. El Museo Johnny Cash no abrirá sus puertas hasta mediados de año, sin embargo, podemos hacer nuestras compras ya en su tienda del Sur de la  Tercera Avenida. La Universidad de Vanderbilt es una de las más prestigiosas del país, podéis disfrutar de un paseo por el campus, admirando los arboles centenarios y antiguos edificios, o de unos tragos en la calle de atrás, rodeado por cientos de estudiantes en las horas punta.

While shopping in Music City wasn't a primary focus on our trip, we did find a few interesting shops during our time there. Cowboy boots, Elvis suits or handmade typical hats, nothing left us cold! The legendary Hatch Show Print store  at 316 Broadway, is one of the oldest letterpress shops in the U.S. (founded in 1879), and is synonymous with country music show posters.

Aunque las compras no eran prioritarias en este viaje, encontramos algunas tiendas muy interesantes. Botas de vaquero, trajes de Elvis, o sombreros típicos, al más puro estilo tejano, nada nos dejo indiferentes! La legendaria Hatch Show Print store  en el 316 de la calle Broadway, es una de las imprentas más antiguas del país, fundada en 1879, y es sinónimo de carteles de música country.

If you like walking we highly recommend you a promenade down the river, crossing the bridge and visiting the football stadium, you would see a nice view from the other side of the river.

Si os encanta andar, os recomendamos encarecidamente un paseo rio abajo, cruzad el puente y visitad el estadio de football, tendréis unas bonitas vistas desde la otra orilla del río.

If you like to stop for a brunch, there are many places where you can eat while listening a local band. One of the most famous is The Southern, nice people, lovely food, better coffee and live music, you can spend a very nice time there.

Si estais buscando un sitio para tomar el brunch, habéis dado en el clavo, en esta ciudad hay muchos locales en los que podéis disfrutar de la comida mientras escucháis un poco de música. Uno de los más famosos es La Surena, donde encontraréis gente agradable, comida deliciosa, riquísimos blodymary, mejor cafe y música en directo, podéis echar toda la manana sin daros cuenta.

But if you want to have a beer, or a couple, or more...your best option is walk along Broadway Street, where you can find bands playing on the street, performance of Elvis and many, many honky -tonks with live music from early in the morning to wee hours.

Pero si lo que queréis es disfrutar de una cerveza, un par, o más...la mejor opción es pasear a lo largo de la calle Broadway, donde podéis encontrar una performace de Elvis, bandas tocando en directo en la calle, o en decenas de locales, desde el amanecer hasta la madrugada.

But the one I doubtless enjoyed the most was The Wild Horse Saloon, we had a lot of fun practicing line dancing, in the finest american style!!

Pero sin duda, lo que me gusto más, fue dar con un local llamado Caballo Salvaje, lo pasamos estupendamente bailando en línea, es un baile típico americano, del más lejano oeste, seguro que lo habeis bailado alguna vez, aunque sea en bodas o fiestas de fin de año, tipo Coyote Dax.
